Chorus Teacher

Northampton County High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate High School Chorus Teacher to join our Fine Arts Department. The ideal candidate will inspire and develop students’ vocal and musical abilities, foster a love for choral music, and contribute to a vibrant school culture through engaging instruction and performance opportunities.

• Plan, implement, and assess a comprehensive choral music curriculum for high school students in accordance with North Carolina state standards.
  
• Direct and conduct choir classes, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
  
• Organize, prepare, and lead students in at least two major choral performances each academic year (one in the fall and one in the spring).
  
• Select appropriate, diverse repertoire for student skill levels and coordinate all aspects of performances.
  
• Cultivate student growth in vocal technique, music theory, sight-reading, ear training, and stage presence.
  
• Collaborate with school staff, administration, and the broader community to promote the choral program and foster student engagement.
  
• Supervise rehearsals, sectionals, and any additional events as necessary.
  
• Maintain regular communication with students, parents, and guardians regarding student progress, events, and performance dates.
  
• Uphold consistent classroom management and maintain high standards of student behavior.
  
• Participate in school professional development, faculty meetings, and extracurricular activities as required.
  

• Bachelor�s degree in Music Education, Choral Conducting, or a related field.
  
• Hold or be eligible to obtain a North Carolina teaching license in Choral Music.
  
• Demonstrated knowledge of vocal pedagogy and a variety of choral literature.
  
• Experience working with high school students in a classroom or performance setting (preferred).
  
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  
• Ability to inspire and motivate students of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
