Pine Lake Prep, a North Carolina top-rated charter school, is seeking a dynamic and motivated Chorus and Band Teacher (grades 6-12). The Chorus/Band Teacher is responsible for instructing Middle and Upper School students in the field of band and chorus, motivating them to develop an interest in and an appreciation of the art of music.
Essential functions of this position include:
- Plan and execute lessons according to the state standards, establish performance requirements and assessments
- Provide for participation at extracurricular events, including concerts
- Select arrangements for band as needed
- Maintain an engaging class and share enthusiasm about music and music appreciation, creating a classroom environment of respect and rapport that fosters a positive climate for learning, equity, and excellence.
Candidates are required to uphold standards set by the NC Department of Public Instruction. Desirable applicants will hold a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university, and should display evidence of strong experience and pedagogy of choral music techniques and instrumental methods with strong management skills; written and oral communication skills. Drum line/percussion experience is a plus.
