Position Summary:


The RN Charge Nurse is responsible for the oversight and coordination of nursing staff and patient care activities during assigned shifts. This role includes ensuring high-quality patient care delivery, supporting nursing staff, and maintaining a safe and efficient clinical environment.


Key Responsibilities:


1.

Leadership and Supervision:


  • Supervise and support nursing staff, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and standards of care.
  • Serve as a role model and mentor for nursing personnel, fostering professional development.


2.

Patient Care Management:


  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels and assignments based on patient acuity and staff competencies.


3.

Communication:


  • Facilitate effective communication among staff, patients, and families regarding patient care and clinical issues.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to the Nurse Manager regarding unit operations and staffing concerns.


4.

Quality and Safety:


  • Monitor compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and departmental efficiency.


5.

Crisis Management:


  • Lead the team in emergencies and critical situations, ensuring effective response and resource allocation.
  • Address conflicts and issues among staff or with patients and families, fostering a collaborative work environment.


6.

Documentation and Reporting:


  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities and nursing interventions.
  • Prepare and maintain reports for audit purposes and compliance with quality standards.

  • Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite.


Work Environment:


  • Fast-paced clinical setting with potential exposure to infectious diseases and hazardous materials.
  • Requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting as part of patient care activities.


  • Current RN Licensure in LA
  • Bachelor�s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred; relevant experience may be considered.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
