Overview

The Correctional Officer plays a crucial role in maintaining safety and security within correctional facilities. This position requires a dedicated individual who can manage challenging situations, enforce rules, and ensure the well-being of both staff and inmates. The ideal candidate will possess strong conflict management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a high-stress environment.


Responsibilities


  • Monitor inmate activities and behavior to ensure compliance with facility regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the facility, including the use of CCTV systems to maintain security.
  • Respond to emergencies and incidents, providing first aid and CPR as necessary.
  • Enforce rules and regulations while maintaining order within the facility.
  • Prepare detailed reports on incidents, inmate behavior, and daily activities.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement agencies as needed for investigations or emergencies.
  • Participate in training programs to enhance skills in conflict management and security protocols.
  • Maintain effective communication with fellow officers and facility staff to promote a safe working environment.


Qualifications


  • Previous experience in law enforcement, military service, or security is preferred.
  • Knowledge of first aid and CPR techniques is essential.
  • Strong conflict management skills with the ability to de-escalate tense situations effectively.
  • Proficient report writing skills for documentation of incidents and daily activities.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and handle stressful situations calmly.
  • Must pass background checks and any required training programs prior to employment. This position offers an opportunity to contribute positively to the correctional system while ensuring safety and security for all individuals within the facility.


Job Types: Contract, Temporary


Pay: $26.00 per hour


Expected hours: 84 per week
