Under the direction of the Purchasing Manager or their designate, responsible for executing procurement activities to support the Orangeburg, SC plant. This includes regular travel to the plant, close collaboration with plant personnel, and remote participation in plant meetings. Will also provide backup support for other buyers and contribute to broader purchasing team initiatives. This role requires discretion, independent judgment, and alignment with Valtir’s Core Values.


What you will do:


  • Conduct all buyer activities for the Orangeburg, SC plant, including placing orders, managing purchase orders, expediting deliveries, and maintaining procurement records.


This requires

+ Regularly travel to the Orangeburg, SC plant to maintain strong relationships and ensure alignment with plant operations.

+ Participate remotely in plant meetings and maintain close communication with designated plant employees.

+ Procure materials and services from approved vendors at optimal cost, quality, and delivery timelines.

+ Collaborate with Commodity Managers to identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative materials.

+ Monitor vendor performance and participate in audits and reviews.

+ Coordinate with the Quality team to ensure compliance with Valtir’s Quality Management System, report non-conformances, and assist in resolution of non-conformances.

+ Coordinate with plant Production Scheduler, S&OP Scheduler, and manufacturing leadership to ensure timely material flow and accurate production scheduling.

+ Coordinate with the Accounts Payable and Certifications teams to resolve any issues with invoicing or material certifications.

  • Secondary responsibility is to serve as a fill-in for other buyers during absences, ensuring continuity of procurement operations through strong communication with plant teams (no travel required).
  • Tertiary responsibility is to assist with analytics, data entry, research, process mapping, and process improvement initiatives at the direction of purchasing management.


What you will need:


  • + Bachelor�s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field and/or has worked in a supply chain role.

+ Experience with MRP systems; experience in NetSuite is preferred.

+ A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel.

+ Exceptionally strong communication, professionalism, and critical thinking skills.

+ Self-motivation.

+ Ability to prioritize tasks.

+ Ability to conduct details analysis and employe deductive reasoning.
