Job Summary

The Community Behavioral Health Hospital (CBHH) in Alexandria, is seeking a passionate, person-centered individual to join our team as a Behavioral Assistant. The Community Behavioral Health Hospital (CBHH) is a small (16-bed) inpatient psychiatric facility for adults experiencing acute mental health episodes. The length of stay is usually less than 60 days, during which treatment focuses on stabilization, patient education, and discharge planning involving community support resources, with the overall goal of preventing future episodes. Duties may include:


  • This position will provide quality person-centered care to patients as specified on individualized treatment plans under the clinical supervision of the site treatment supervisor.
  • Models and participates in person-centered approaches associated with Group Facilitation, Individual Interventions, Support Plans, Treatment Plans and Evidence Based and Best Practices.
  • Assist patients in developing skills necessary for return to the community by using motivational engagement techniques, instruction, role modeling, rehearsing, and applying behavior management strategies.


Assist in the communication of expectations of Support Plans with the ability to shift between input from staff, patient, and treatment environments to establish and update the patient support plan with the designated Mental Health Professional.



Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications


1 year of relevant experience providing the following:


  • Providing services using person-centered approaches
  • Planning and facilitating therapeutic activities
  • Documenting progress in activities and interventions
  • Providing and reinforcing skill building in individuals
  • 1 year of relevant experience requirement may be substituted by a bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or behavior analysis; the experience requirement also may be substituted by a bachelor's degree in human services or a related behavioral health field that includes substantial behavioral health coursework such as: individual or group counseling, clinical interviewing, clinical assessment, crisis intervention, or similar behavioral health courses.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience caring for adult clients with severe and persistent mental illness in a residential or hospital setting
