Job Summary

The Barn Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the barn and ensuring the well-being of all animals. This position requires a strong background in animal husbandry, mechanical knowledge, and effective supervisory skills. The Barn Manager will coordinate activities related to animal care, equipment maintenance, and farm management while ensuring a safe and productive environment.


Responsibilities


  • Supervise and train barn staff in daily operations and animal care routines.
  • Oversee feeding, grooming, and health monitoring of all animals, ensuring high standards of animal husbandry.
  • Manage the maintenance and repair of barn facilities and equipment, including farm machinery and tools.
  • Coordinate irrigation systems and ensure proper watering schedules for crops or pasture.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment necessary for barn operations.
  • Implement safety protocols for staff handling heavy equipment and performing heavy lifting tasks.
  • Assist with the operation of forklifts and other heavy machinery as needed.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the barn and surrounding areas to ensure cleanliness and safety standards are met.
  • Collaborate with agricultural specialists to optimize growing practices and crop yields.


Skills


  • Proven supervising experience in a farm or agricultural setting.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge related to equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Expertise in animal husbandry practices, including animal care and handling techniques.
  • Familiarity with operating forklifts, farm machinery, and heavy equipment safely.
  • Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and performing welding tasks as required.
  • Experience in horticulture or greenhouse management is a plus.
  • Basic math skills for inventory management and record keeping.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks as needed for barn operations.
