Associate Executive Director - Eldon and Elsie Ward Family YMCA

Oversees the daily operations of a YMCA branch, including membership experience, programs and amenities, and facility/properties. Assists in volunteer and staff development, financial development, community relations and collaborations with community agencies.

As Associate Executive Director, you will play a critical role in advancing the cause of the Eldon and Elsie Ward Family YMCA. You'll work alongside dedicated staff, volunteers, and community partners to lead day-to-day branch operations, grow high-impact programs, and build authentic relationships that support youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. • Thinks, communicates and behaves as a cause-driven leader and role model for other staff and members when it comes to desired staff behaviors; promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job-related functions.
  
• Assists in the development of the branch board and committees. Directs the volunteer activities (policy and program) of the branch.
  
• Assists in the financial development activities of the branch; works to create and maintain a culture of philanthropy surrounding the Y.
  
• Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities. Develops, maintains, and models collaborative relationships with community agencies in service delivery area.
  
• Oversees the hiring, training, and supervision of staff and volunteers.
  
• Develops, manages, and monitors the branch operating budget and meets or exceeds budget targets.
  
• Directs branch strategic planning efforts and develops the annual operating plan of the branch.
  
• Develops and directs high quality relationship-based member engagement strategies. Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community.
  
• Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs which support the Y mission, goals, and strategies.
  
• Ensures the safety and maintenance of high quality facilities, grounds, and equipment.
  
• Directs branch marketing and communication efforts to effectively communicate benefit to
  

the community.

• Serves as a member of Y management and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA.
  
• Provides staff with ongoing supervision and training related to abuse risk.
  
• Provides staff with regular feedback regarding their boundaries with youth.
  
• Requires staff to adhere to policies and procedures related to abuse risk.
  
• Responds quickly to policy and procedure violations using the organization�s progressive disciplinary procedures.
  
• Responds seriously and confidently to reports of suspicious and inappropriate behaviors.
  
• Follows mandated reporting requirements.
  
• Communicates to all staff the organization�s commitment to protecting their youth from abuse.
  
• Ability to work effectively with diverse groups and viewpoints from all social and economic segments of the organization and community. A commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism is expected from our staff.
  

Manages and coaches four to six program directors who supervise a total of up to 200 employees in the branch. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training and developing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

• Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, business or equivalent.
  
• Three or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
  
• Ability to direct total operations through volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of branch budget, marketing and public relations, and program development.
  
• Experience in management and development of volunteer involvement; ability to recruit top community leaders and to engage them in the philanthropic efforts of the YMCA.
  
• Proven track record in direct appeal annual support campaigns.
  
• Passionate belief in the Y�s cause of nurturing the potential of all youth, supporting healthy living for all people and finding ways to help and support our neighbors.
  
• Ability to foster a collaborative team approach to solving challenging situations.
  
• Ability to work effectively with diverse groups and viewpoints from all social and economic segments of the organization and community. A commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism is expected from our staff.
  
• Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.
  
• Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
  
• CPR, First Aid, AED and O2 certifications must be obtained within the first 60 days
