We are seeking an

ASSISTANT RESIDENT ENGINEER to provide professional engineering services for various heavy highway, roadway, and bridge construction projects.


In this position, you will:


  • Support the Resident Engineer in the construction day-to-day operations
  • Provide engineering and technical direction for complex construction projects
  • Help manage the construction inspection work and consulting staffing
  • Provide QA/QC for highway, roadway, and/or bridge construction
  • Read and implement construction contract plans and specifications
  • Assist in overseeing document control, construction project records, and quality assurance documentation management
  • Work collaboratively with all project stakeholders including the client, contractors and sub-contractors
  • Prepare project closeout and other project completion documentation
  • Work independently, but also in a team environment


We are looking for someone who has:


  • Bachelor�s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • Illinois Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
  • 7+ years of experience in progressive construction management/resident engineering experience working on heavy highway construction projects. IDOT experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of IDOT, Tollway, and CDOT standards and requirements
  • IDOT Documentation of Contract Quantities certification
  • Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Open Roads Design
  • Experience working with construction databases
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and overnight shifts
  • Ability to inspect construction sites
  • Ability to stand, walk, and work in varied weather conditions
  • Valid driver�s license and ability to clear a DMV records check
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

The salary range is from 110,000 - 140,000. The pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
