We welcome applications from individuals from a broad range of disciplines to join us in advancing implementation science. The Department of Population Health holds a NIH $11M Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) in Implementation Science for Health Equity (ISEC) with the goal of strengthening institutional, state, and national capacity in implementation and dissemination research. ISEC provides core services, pilot project grants, protected research time, and mentorship. ISEC's mission is to eliminate health disparities across the life course through implementation science.
We seek an Assistant or Associate Professor to join the ISEC leadership. We are particularly interested in a methods-focused researcher with a strong grounding in implementation science theories, measures and frameworks. Successful candidates will be engaged in research on implementing evidence-based interventions in relevant clinical or community settings while ensuring access for everyone. This is a 12-mos. tenure-track position and opportunities exist for joint appointments in other departments in the Schools of Medicine, Nursing and Health Professions at the University of Kanas Medical Center (KUMC) campus in Kansas City as well as academic units of the University of Kansas main campus in Lawrence.
The Department of Population Health, located in the School of Medicine, provides a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary research environment. While our faculty draw from different scholarly disciplines, we share a common goal of remediating health disparities across Kansas and beyond. In addition to a record of partnership with state and regional health authorities, department faculty have long-standing collaborations with many community and clinical partners in both urban and rural locations, providing a rich environment for impactful implementation science and community-engaged research. With faculty on three campuses - Kansas City, Wichita, Salina - the Department is the academic home for graduate education leading to the MHSA, MPH, MSCR, and PhD. In addition to ISEC, additional collaborating centers and institutional partners based at KUMC include:
the statewide Kansas Cancer Registry, hosted by the Department since 1994

This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have the foundational knowledge and skill set required to perform the duties of the position. The level of degree is based on accreditation requirements, institutional standards of academic and professional excellence, alignment with peer institution benchmarks, and contributes to the credibility and effectiveness of the role within the university community.
+ Record of implementation science-focused scholarship in peer-reviewed publications, appropriate to rank.
+ Potential for extramural funding relevant to implementation science, appropriate to rank.
+ Experience mentoring or consulting in implementation science
+ Active principal Investigator R01-level funding of implementation science-focused projects.
+ Expertise in team science, quality improvement, knowledge translation.
+ Experience teaching and/or designing courses relevant to implementation science.

Coverage begins on day one for health, dental, and vision insurance and includes health expense accounts with generous employer contributions if the employee participates in a qualifying health plan. Paid time off, including vacation and sick, begins accruing upon hire, plus ten paid holidays. One paid discretionary day is available after six months of employment, and paid time off for bereavement, jury duty, military service, and parental leave is available after 12 months of employment.
