Overview:
The Assistant Director of Maintenance reports directly to the Director of Maintenance and will be based at one of Blue Hawaiian’s four major locations. This position is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the maintenance department and ensuring the continued airworthiness of the aircraft. The Assistant Director will work in close collaboration with the Director of Maintenance, providing leadership, oversight of base teams, training, scheduling, and team development. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the safety and reliability of Blue Hawaiian Helicopters’ fleet by ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, implementing sound maintenance practices, and continuously refining operational processes. This role must possess broad industry knowledge and a thorough understanding of FAA regulations, ensuring full compliance with FAR/FAA Parts 133, 135, and 145, as well as all applicable company policies and federal requirements.
The classification of this position is broad and assigned specific functional areas; duties and assignments may overlap depending on the operational needs of the department.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following:* Support each base by managing daily operations, ensuring airworthiness, regulatory compliance, training, team development, and continuous quality management, all in alignment with company goals, third-party audits, and FAA regulations.Subject to applicable laws and Blue Hawaiian Helicopters policies, regular attendance is an essential function of the position. Supervisory ResponsibilitiesDirectly supervises employees in the Maintenance department. Carries out Supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, selecting, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems. For Exempt Managers: Managers that carry out these responsibilities for two or more employees will have significant input in hiring and termination decisions.
