The Chief Engineer is directly responsible for supervising the engineering and grounds teams to maintain the condition of the properties at optimal levels. This includes executing ongoing and preventative maintenance programs, monitoring expenses, inventorying parts and supplies and ensuring projects are completed in accordance with La Jolla BeachTennis Club, Inc. guidelines. Promotes and follows LJBTC, Inc.'s Signature Service standards and requirements ensuring a lasting impression of exemplary service resulting in supremely satisfied and loyal members and guests.
Coaches and counsels department personnel as needed.
The overall maintenance of the guest rooms and the facilities influence guest and co-employee impression of the total organization. Clean, well maintained guest rooms, facilities and equipment will contribute to guest comfort and satisfaction, and achieve room occupancy and revenue goals.
Directly supervises employees in the Engineering/Grounds Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from Twoyear College or technical school; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in English representing appropriate business etiquette in written form (grammar, punctuation, syntax, etc). Ability to speak effectively in English with customers, managers, vendors, or employees of organization.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Must have valid California driver's license.

This company operates seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Shifts will generally be rotated unless you were hired for a specific shift, as much as possible to be fair to everyone. Be aware that at times it may be necessary to move you from your accustomed shift if business or task assignments demand.
