The Assistant Coach of Sailing assists in all aspects of the intercollegiate Sailing team including practice, race day logistics, travel and other team events. This part-time position requires a dedicated individual with a passion for sailing and coaching, who can inspire and mentor student-athletes while fostering a competitive and supportive team environment.
Key Responsibilities:* Provide coaching and leadership to the Bowdoin College sailing team.- Ensure the safety and well-being of all team members during practices and competitions.
- Maintain and manage sailing equipment and facilities.
Hourly rate for this position is $30.00 per hour.
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Ability to motivate and effectively communicate with student-athletes
- Commitment to being a positive member of the Athletics Department, the college community and the ability to influence athletes to do the same
- Ability to be self-directed and motivated and be able to work independently and work in a stressful environment.
- Valid driver�s license and ability to meet the standards of the College�s current Motor Vehicle Policy.
- Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification.
- The successful candidate will be subject to a criminal background check and motor vehicle check.
Preferred:* Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of sailing techniques and training methods and ability to effectively teach them
- Working knowledge of NCAA and NESCAC rules and an understanding of the philosophy behind them.
Preferred:* Demonstrated effectiveness in coaching Sailing.
- This is a casual, part-time, non-benefit eligible position.
- The schedule will vary dependent on the needs of the Sailing Team.
