Bachelor's degree in business, accounting or related field required; Master's degree preferred.2. General accounting, financial and analysis knowledge.3. Three to five years related experience, municipal/government preferred.4.
Familiarity with an integrated financial software system; MUNIS systems a plus.5. Such alternatives as the superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.REPORTS TO: Director of Finance and OperationsJOB GOAL: To assist the director of operations and finance in the day to day operations and administration of the school department accounting and finance operations. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Maintains a complete set of financial records for all school accounts.
2. Implements the districts accounting system and procedures; provides timely and accurate financial information and ensures integrity of the financial data by instituting proper controls; ensures that no claim or payable against the district is fraudulent, unlawful, or excessive, as prescribed by Massachusetts General Laws. 3. Provides support to the director of operations and finance through annual budget process.4.
Examines all vouchers and payrolls for appropriateness of expenditure, and for accuracy and availability of funds before payment; ensures compliance with state procurement laws.5. Reconciles all district funds with the town accountants general ledger.6. Prepares reports to track financial activity of all scholarships and state and federal grants; ensures funds are reconciled on a monthly basis with the town accountant.7. Administers MUNIS software system for school department.
8. Tracks all financial activity and revenue from various school activities and reconciles accounts.9. Receives cash receipts from various departments: posts amounts into the general ledger. Reconciles accounts receivable with department heads.
10. Assists the athletic department, food services department and community education department with reconciliation of budgets.11. Attends meetings of finance team and food service director. 12.
Meets and reconciles financial data with the special education department on a monthly basis. 13. Administers grants and financial reporting to the Massachusetts Department of Education.14. Attends professional development training through MASBO and other professional municipal organizations.15.
