Established in 2018, Florida Asphalt & Concrete (FAC) was formed to meet the immense demand for commercial asphalt paving and concrete solutions across Central Florida. Currently serving Hillsborough, Pinellas, Hernando, Citrus, Pasco, Manatee, Polk, Hardee, Orange, Lee and Sarasota counties providing the infrastructure that makes modern life possible.

The Asphalt Leadman serves as the field-level supervisor and crew leader during paving operations. This role involves overseeing asphalt crews and operators, ensuring work aligns with plans, safety protocols, and production targets.


Key Responsibilities


  • Supervise, coordinate, train, and coach asphalt laborers and equipment operators on daily paving tasks.
  • Communicate daily instructions from the Superintendent or Foreman, schedule crew mobilization.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, set grade stakes, and guide operators to maintain layout accuracy.
  • Monitor compaction processes and execution of quality control (density, cores, etc.)
  • Perform labor tasks when needed and operate equipment when required.
  • Inspect equipment daily; report mechanical issues and ensure preventative maintenance compliance
  • Ensure and enforce traffic control measures and jobsite safety in compliance with OSHA/MUTCD guidelines
  • Maintain timecards, material logs, and field cost tracking records
  • Engage in jobsite cleanup, configuration of barricades, scaffolding, and temporary structures as needed


Qualifications


  • Minimum 3 years of asphalt paving or road construction experience; 5+ preferred for supervisory roles
  • Proficient in reading construction plans, setting grade, and performing slope calculations j
  • Strong leadership and crew-management skills; ability to train and mentor laborers
  • Solid understanding of asphalt materials, compaction standards, and field testing methods
  • Valid driver�s license required; CDL but not required.
  • Ability to work long, sometimes irregular hours; tolerate heat, dust, and outdoor physical demands
