Architectural Design Supervisor

We have an excellent opportunity for a Architectural Design Supervisor in our Mountaintop, PA facility.

Summary:

Drive demand for Clopay (CornellCookson) products. Provide design support for the architectural and design community, ensuring that the best solution is given to the architect, focusing where possible on new & sectional products. Obtain the maximum information on the project, complete drawings and specifications and facilitate obtaining the bid date so that the chance of bidding, winning and shipping work is maximized.

Responsibilities/Principal Duties:

• Lead the ADS dept where it concerns design assist. Train associates within the dept in product knowledge and application standards.
  
• Responsible for completing associate timecards. Writing monthly reports. Tracking associate workload. Set goals for individual and team performance. Manage teams to meet individual and team goals.
  
• For each interaction, convert inquiry to a ‘design assist� - a specification and detailed drawing to enable the architect to use on their project. Ensure the specification is written to ensure the SSA of CornellCookson/Clopay products are clear and difficult for competitors to bid. Persuade the architect to sole specify, use CC/Clopay as basis of design, or a design listing (in that order).
  
• Record interactions with architects and designers in the CRM, including design assists, construction projects, obtaining as much information as possible to facilitate getting a solid bid date. Feed any outside information obtained back to lead coordinator to increase the likelihood of our dealers winning this work.
  
• Continually improve product and application knowledge by consulting on projects with others in the group. Coach newer associates with their solutions, and foster a ‘team approach� to ensure that everyone is continually learning and the customer gets the best solution.
  
• Support the Product reps, Regional Managers and outside product reps by providing the same solutions as described above where required. Pass on additional drafting work to associates if necessary to maintain workload
  
• Provide design (and technical) support to architects and other design personnel, mainly during design phase, but could also be during construction. Ask pertinent questions and prescribe the best product for each application, using new products and unique options wherever possible.
  

Job Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Architectural Sales and Customer Service: Technical sales, architectural sales, customer service and sectional/garage door experience preferred. Respond appropriately to customers with a sense of urgency. Keep the customer fully informed on the progress. Ability to build rapport with customer, to ensure customer returns for the next project.
  
• AutoCAD: Proven understanding of construction plans and ability to read blueprints. Proficient with AutoCAD.
  
• Communication/Cooperation: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills a must. Teamworking skills are essential - within the group and across all functions within the organization. Writing and speaking skills are important. High attention to detail and correctness is essential.
  
• Forward and Out-of the Box Thinking: Exhibit the desire to contribute to moving the business forward and maximizing our revenue - with new ideas and using new technology and processes a key attribute. This also is essential when looking for a creative solution for an architect. Must be a self-starter with the confidence to make decisions and the ability to be creative.
  
• Product and Construction Knowledge: Solid knowledge of building products and commercial construction, including building code requirements and standard related to commercial doors. This includes the ability to articulate the differences and similarities between Clopay/CornellCookson products and competitors. Aptitude to continually learn new solutions and keep up to date with code solutions.
  
• Organizational Skills: Capable of managing dozens of projects opportunities at various stages, using MS Outlook and CRM.
  

Job Requirements:

Qualified candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications:

• Associates or Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  
• Proficiency in AutoCAD& Revit/BIM, release 2013 or later is essential.
  
• Extensive knowledge of CIW products, materials, fabrication processes and the Product Engineering process is essential.
  
• Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Access, etc.
