The Boys & Girls Clubs of Utah County provides after school programs to students throughout the state of Utah. The after school programs are located on-site and run weekdays afterschool during the school year. While at program, youth receive a blend of academic and enrichment activities. The AmeriCorps STEM Specialist will lead hands-on STEM education and assist with other activities at the Boys & Girls Club.
The individual selected for this position will serve as an AmeriCorps member. AmeriCorps is a national service opportunity, not just a regular job. You will be expected to complete a minimum of
600 service hours throughout your term. This is a great opportunity to add service and hands-on teaching experience to your resume! This position will provide a living allowance of $4,800 per semester ($9,600 for the school year) paid over the term of service. The stipend will be split up and paid on a bi-weekly (every two weeks) basis during your term of service. NOTE: You will not be paid hourly.
In addition, an Education Award of $1,565.08 will be awarded upon successful completion of each semester ($3130.16 for the school year). The Segal AmeriCorps Education Award is a post-service benefit received by individuals who complete terms of national service in approved AmeriCorps programs. This award (similar to a Pell Grant) can be used to repay qualified student loans and to pay current educational expenses at eligible institutions.
Between the living stipend (paid directly to you) and the two Education Awards (paid to your institution on your behalf), your potential total compensation for the school year is $12,730.16.
