Salary/Terms: $25 per hour. One-year, terminating contract for the 2025-26 academic year. Schedule and hours determined by building administrator to accomodate program needs. MANDATORY Save the Children training in August. The anticipated program start date is September 8th with additional prep and closing days scheduled, as needed, by the site coordinator.
Reports to: Building Principal / District Administrator
Evaluation: Performance in this position will be evaluated by the building principal/immediate supervisor and in accordance with WV State Code §18A-2-12, WV State Board Policy 5310.
The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the School System
Qualifications:
1. Valid teaching certificate licensing the individual to teach in the specializations and grade levels pursuant to WV Code §18A-3-2, preferred.
Elementary Education K-6 or Multi Subject K-8.
2. Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18-5-15c and/or §18A-3-10, as appropriate
3. Meet the qualifications outlined in WV Code §18A-3-2a
4. Perform duties as described in the job description below.
Duties/Responsibilities:
+ Work with school administrator(s) and teachers to identify students with deficient reading and/or writing and/or math skills based on available classroom performance records and test data
+ Develop and deliver a site-based reading, writing, and math tutoring program for selected students
+ Monitor and report student progress as required
+ Collaborate with regular education teachers monthly to align services/instruction to help meet student needs
+ Provide ELA-related enrichment activities in areas (such as drama, creative writing, etc.)
+ Maintain and submit student records for attendance
+ Submit progress reports to parents and school monthly
+ Attend staff meetings and trainings as required
+ Assist with programs planned for family members of students and community members
+ Supervise afterschool students
+ Arrive and depart at designated times
+ Maintain student confidentiality
+ Use planning time effectively Other duties as assigned by building principal or program administrator

Most commonly, the educational setting is indoors with outdoor settings for recess and field trip activities. The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate (20-60 dB). Exceptions include gymnasiums as well as vocational/ technical laboratories where the noise levels may be moderate to loud (60-90 dB).
