About Us:

At Ben Bellucci Academy (BBA), we’re committed to offering meaningful extracurricular experiences that support both academic and personal growth. We’re currently looking for a dedicated, knowledgeable, and approachable After-School Chess Instructor to lead engaging chess sessions for students of all skill levels-from beginners to advanced players-in a supportive, inclusive environment.


Position Overview:

The After-School Chess Instructor will guide students through the fundamentals and strategies of chess while promoting sportsmanship, focus, and collaboration. You’ll play a key role in helping children enhance their problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills through fun and interactive lessons.


Responsibilities:


  • Lead after-school chess sessions for K-5th grade students.
  • Teach both basic rules and advanced techniques in an engaging, structured format.
  • Create a welcoming environment where students feel encouraged to learn and work together.
  • Plan activities, organize friendly games, and run mini-tournaments.
  • Offer feedback and support to help students improve their chess skills.
  • Keep open communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress.
  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom space.


Qualifications:


  • Solid understanding of chess (formal training is a plus).
  • Experience working with or teaching children is highly preferred.
  • Friendly, patient, and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to break down complex chess ideas into simple concepts.
  • Responsible, dependable, and capable of working independently or with a team.
  • Available after school on [insert days/times - e.g., Tuesdays & Thursdays, 1:30 PM - 5:30 PM].


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Chess coaching certification or formal experience (not required).
  • Familiarity with chess learning tools or platforms.
  • Organizational skills to coordinate tournaments or events.


Compensation:


  • $20.00-$25.00 per hour, depending on experience.
  • Paid per session.
