West Shore Community College is seeking a passionate and dedicated Adjunct Professor to teach two sections of ENG 091 (Early College English) face to face on campus starting in Fall 2025. The successful candidate will have a strong background in English instruction and demonstrate a commitment to fostering student learning and academic growth. Part-time faculty positions are appointed on a course-by-course, semester-by-semester basis as needed. This position presents an opportunity to also work for additional hours with the ASM Tech program teaching Writing for Personal Communication, a success course focused on community building and developing life skills.
Job Duties
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans and instructional materials that meet the diverse needs of our student population. The course in question is the equivalent of senior high school English
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to help students transition to college level writing
- Foster a supportive, inclusive learning environment that encourages critical thinking, creativity, and effective communication skills
- Maintain academic standards and address all provided student learning objectives
- Prepare syllabi and instructional materials in accordance with college guidelines
- Monitor student progress and meet with students outside of class as needed
- Use the learning management system to post course materials and enter grades
- Master's degree in English, Composition, Communications, or a related discipline, OR a Bachelor�s degree and a valid Michigan teaching certificate with the English Language arts endorsement
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of demonstrated experience teaching high school age students
